Finding God’s Rest when facing cancer.

God’s Rest – Hebrews 4:1-13

Finding God’s Rest when facing cancer.

Faith that can move mountains, remember; “If you have faith…..nothing shall be impossible for you. God’s Rest.

I think of all the other people who face cancer and Health issues, and wonder how they find peace of mind and spirit. Most of the drugs we have to take are worse than the disease; they change your personality, your hope and your future. As we watch our friends and relatives go about their life of fun, travel or partying they are afraid to talk to you, out of fear of not knowing what to say, or heaven forbid this cancer can jump from your body to theirs. Worst yet, I have had people tell me, “Well you know we’re all going to die.” It can become a lonely journey, unless you have an unmovable anchor in your life, which is, My Lord and Savior.

This Friday, May 17th 2013 I will see a surgeon to discuss a resection of my pancreas, (Whipple). First I will have another CT scan. My last one showed a tumor on my Pancreas that had grown by 1/3 also a growth on my lung that had grown by 300%.  As if that was not enough, I have a Blood Cancer, along with being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, making most of my muscles in my body go into into very painful rigor mortis, or charley horse, to the point of closing off my throat and lungs, where I can hardly breathe and has broken several vertebras in my back. The good news is I’m just at the beginning phase. I find myself up in the early hours most nights, while quietly reading my Bible; Hebrews 4:1-13 spoke to me in a very large way. As Moses led God’s people in the desert God speaks of their disobedience and the fact that they will never enter God’s rest. A good portion of chapter 4 concerns the Question. When is God’s rest?  One of my favorite Scripture’s, which I have posted earlier, along with a picture of my grandmother’s Bible 4:12; “For the Word of God is Living and Powerful. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing the sole and the spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart…… Just think of the power of God’s Living and Holy Word, to search out your heart and thoughts almost beyond comprehension.

Concerning God’s Rest the question is it the Sabbath rest? Or is it our eternal rest in heaven? If you’re facing cancer or health problems, as I am. I tend to think that God’s Rest can have another meaning. Look at verse 2. “We also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did: but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith”.

My thought’s:

To Enter God’s Rest:

Faith

In

God’s Love for us

His promises, written in his Holy Word.

His Holy Word is living, Active and powerful.

That he will provide for you.

Guide you (He is your Shepherd, teacher, father, Bread of Life……..)

You need;

A live, active prayer life

A Constant absorption of God’s holy word, which will give you wisdom, understanding, combined with guidance and truth.

Remember the importance of your Faith, in your search for Peace and Rest.

My question for myself and for you is. If we have faith in the above statements will not those truths give you real rest, as you rest in, who God is.

O’B
