Five important areas of “Moments of Health“ when facing cancer and health issues.
How you talk to yourself, Breathing exercises, Meditation, Faith in God plus Juicing for life will help you capture Moments of health and increase your happiness during your day.
If you’re reading this article hopefully you’ve come to word of life images many times, most people who visit our site are either going through cancer or health issues, or are caregivers to the ones that are facing the fight of their life. Word of life images; Our goal is to help people in their fight in multiple ways, one being “Gather Moments of Health”.
Just what do we mean by Gather Moments of Health. In an age of advertisements and claims of the miracle cures, most of us who face chronic life-threatening illnesses, are still waiting for that magic cure. I believe very strongly, that how you look at things can make your day harder for you, or at least a little easier at times, one of those is, learning how to “Gather Moments of Health” during your day. I do that by practicing breathing exercises, meditation, different forms of exercise i.e. Acu yoga, Bo- flex, walking, and using different exercise equipment. I couple this with “Juices for Life” another area that we will be writing about.
Faith is a huge area that can help you in your gathering of moments of health, as I read the holy Scriptures and believe in God’s Word, he tells of a future where there is no pain and anxiety, this allows me to focus on a different life. The definition of faith found in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. Verse 1 is not really a formal definition of faith; rather it is a description of what faith does for us. It makes things hoped for, as real as if we already had them, and it provides unshakable evidence that the unseen, spiritual blessings of Christianity are absolutely certain and real. In other words it brings the future within the present and makes the invisible seen.
1.) How do you talk to yourself? Are your dark thoughts hurting you today? Or are your thoughts focusing on healing yourself today? Do you see the bright side of the road or are you always looking in the shadows?
I’ve had this antidote for myself for as long as I can remember it goes like this “Picture accidentally hitting yourself in the thumb with a hammer, you have two choices you can grab that thumb yell, scream, tighten your muscles and visualize a mangled thumb along with all the pain that it’s going to be.
or you can try to relax, deep breathe, as you breathe out let the pain out and focus on letting go.
Now hitting yourself in the thumb with a hammer is not smart, but neither is focusing on all the possible pain that may or may not be there. You’ll find that if you learn to relax even when you’re hurt, pain, fear, anxiety and anger can fade away.
The real issue is, all that undue stress and fear creates havoc on your immune system, by putting it into your fight or flight syndrome. The stress response – one critical thing to understand about stresses that your body reacts to.
The psychological changes that occurred during the fight or flight response are activated in order to give the body increase strength and speed in anticipation of fighting or running. Some of the specific psychological changes in their functions include:
* Increased blood flow to the muscles activated by diverting the blood flow from other parts of the body.
*Increase blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugars, and fats in order to supply the body with extra energy.
*The blood clotting function of the body speeds up in order to prevent excessive blood lost in the event of an injury sustained during the response.
*Increased muscle tension in order to provide the body with extra speed and strength.
* Emotional reactivity – during the reaction the intensity of emotion that is brought on by the stimulus will also determine the nature and intensity of the behavior response. Individuals with higher levels of emotional reactivity may be prone to anxiety and aggression, which illustrates the implications of appropriate emotional reaction in the fight or flight response.
These are only a few things that happen during the fight or flight response, needless to say some of us stay in this type of anxiety because of the sickness, pain, stress and fear most of our waking moments.
2.) Breathing Exercises & Meditation, using your breath and your mind – which can be exercised while you’re walking, laying in bed, or your actual practice exercises that increase your effectiveness both breathing and meditation.
A good example of the Power of the mind is, the placebo effect. If you’ve been through clinical trials as an example ;
* Control groups are created, some will have a drug at a certain strength.
* Another group will have the same drug but at different times and strengths.
* Another group will have a drug that is a placebo in other words it does nothing, this helps establish a baseline to find out if drugs work or not. There is always a certain percentage of people that will be cured or their health will be improved just by the power of the mind and not by taking the drug.
Now you’re asking me, what does this have to do with breathing and meditation? The power of the breath combined with meditation will have an awesome effect on your Moments of Health.
The power of the breath is enormous,
1.) Relaxing breath that will relieve anxiety slow your system down.
2.) Another type will increase your energy and allow you to get much more accomplished, increasing your brain focus.
3.) Stimulating breath, yoga breathing techniques to raise energy and increase alertness.
4.) You can combine meditation in a variety of forms along with your breathing exercises, this we will go into further detail, in future posts.
3.) Juicing for Health – quickest way to increase your health is through pure vegetable and fruit juices. Very quickly you’ll see the results, and you will soon be make juicing a way of life. By choosing the correct juicer you can save yourself time juicing, as well as increase the pleasure of making your own vegetable and fruit juices. Later we’ll go into much more detail on how to choose the correct juicer, there are a variety of types, but one thing to remember is the time to clean up and prepare your juice, as well is how much juice comes out of your juice.r For quite a few years I’ve owned several books on juicing, there are a variety of juices that you can make, that will help heal you while at the same time, enjoying the variety of great tastes.
Typical areas that can be improved by juice
*Immune system *Cancer * Chronic Fatigue Syndrome * Diabetes * Gastrointestinal complaints * Hypertension * Kidney Stones * Malnutrition * Muscle Twitching *Rheumatism * plus many more.
4.)Acu-Yoga for self-healing I use Acu-yoga most days to keep my spine back in line from a very strong Muscle disease that pulls my vertebra’s out of socket every day. Without the Michaels Reed Gach books on ACU Yoga my life would be a living hell.
1.) The first book Acupressure Stress Management Book Acu-yoga
2.) The second book Acupressure’s Potent Points -a guide to self-care for common ailments.
Both of the Michael Reed Gach books have served me well over the years, there are great references on how to do different Acu yoga poses as well as certain pressure points.
Developed in Asia more than 5,000 years ago, acupressure is an Ayurvedic healing art, involving the use of fingers to gradually apply pressure to “key healing points,” activating the body’s natural healing abilities.
Acupressure may be beneficial for alleviating pain, improving energy levels, and maintaining overall health.
“By relieving stress, Acupressure Therapy strengthens resistance to disease and promotes wellness. You can learn self-care applications and pressure point formulas for specific conditions, such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chronic muscular pain, mental stress, addiction recovery, learning disorders, trauma, emotional imbalances and more, “according to Acupressure.com.
Acu-Yoga, invented by Gach, is “a self-healing system of exercises that integrates the knowledge of two ancient methods of health maintenance, Acupressure and Yoga.”
Gach has written several books on acupressure and Acu-Yoga, including; Acupressure Pain Relief, Acupressure for Lovers, and Acupressure for Emotional Healing I would highly recommend your investment in his books.
5.) Power of Faith- When facing Cancer and Health Difficulties: My Faith in God allows me to gather moments of health throughout the day as I lay my Life into God’s hands.

“And out of 125 studies that looked at the link between health and regular worship, 85
showed regular churchgoers live longer.“There’s a lot of evidence out there.”
Dr. Koenig — director of Duke’s Center for Spirituality, Theology and Health and the
author of several authoritative books on faith and healing — says a striking study
published in the Southern Medical Journal demonstrated that prayer has a remarkable
effect on patients with hearing and visual deficiencies.
After prayer sessions, “They showed significant improvements based on audio and visual
tests,” Dr. Koenig said.
He added: “The benefits of devout religious practice, particularly involvement in a faith
community and religious commitment, are that people cope better. In general, they cope
with stress better, they experience greater well-being because they have more hope, they’re
more optimistic, they experience less depression, less anxiety, and they commit suicide less
“They have stronger immune systems, lower blood pressure, and probably better
The proof of the power of prayer is overwhelming, says researcher and writer Tom Knox,
a one-time atheist who became a regular worshipper after doing in-depth study of the
medical benefits of faith.
