Importance of the lymph system
Exercise and the lymph system when facing cancer and health difficulties.
Walking, proper breathing, and meditation, help in the health of your lymph system, all important factors when facing cancer and health difficulties.
This is my second journal entry for “The Journey is Mine“, you will remember my personal goal is to address seven key areas in my life that I feel will give me a better quality of life.
The seven key areas are;
- Live foods
- Pain management.
I’m starting with walking as a form of exercise, that at this time is very hard for me, remember that I have severe cartilage loss and severe OA in both knees. I still feel that I need to come up with a plan that allows me to start walking. First I love walking, I tend to be somewhat on the active side and walking helps me get my mind straight, while observing nature, and what God has created. The reason for starting with walking, is it addresses a very important part of your health system that needs to be cleaned and can only be cleaned, with proper breathing and exercise (breathing being the most important).
As I said before in previous posts, I believe in the power of the mind, what you focus on in your thinking, has a direct effect on the happiness in your life. I have gathered a lot of books from quite a few different authors. One of the books that had a great impact on me was from Anthony Robbins called Unlimited Power published 1986. Anthoney’s way of explaining the lymph system has stuck with me and made a lot of sense, by combining both breathing and walking while following his direction of what you focus your mind on, creates a very powerful life-changing activity for your life.
The foundation of health is a healthy blood stream. The system that transports oxygen and nutrients to all the cells of your body. If you have a healthy circulation system you’re going to live a long healthy life. That environment is the bloodstream. What is the control for that system? Breathing. It’s the way, you fully oxygenate the body and thus stimulate the electrical process of each and every cell.
Breathing not only controls the oxygenation in the cells. It controls the flow of lymph fluid, which contains white blood cells to protect the body. What is the lymph system? Some people think of it as the body sewer system. Every cell in your body is surrounded by lymph, you have four times as much lymph fluid in your body as you do blood. Here’s how the lymph system works. Blood is pumped from your heart, through your arteries into the thin porous capillaries. The blood carries oxygen and nutrients to the capillaries were there then diffused into this fluid around the cells called the lymph. Dead cells, blood proteins and other toxic material must be removed by the lymph system. The lymph system is activated by deep breathing. This is a very important key part of your immune system. White blood cells in your lymph system recognize bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites then destroy them. They also create antibodies which protects you.
I know you now can see why I chose walking,and breathing correctly as my first choice in getting my life back ( my faith is first, but you know that if you already have read my posts). When walking, learn deep diaphragmatic breathing, it is the most effective way to pump the fluids through your lymph system. You should breathe in this ratio: inhale one count, hold four counts, exhale two counts. Example if you inhaled for 4 seconds, you would hold for 16 and exhale for a second. At first I find it rather problematic to train myself in proper breathing without having to constantly count but once you’re able to master this you can now get onto the next step.
Meditation: For right now I’ll focus on a very simple process that I find effective for me. I prefer to use Scripture Psalms 23. Remember my goal is to use effective breathing to clean my lymph system and positive meditation to help maintain and uplift my spirit. Psalms 23 is very easy for me to visualize that. The Lord is my shepherd guiding me to green pastures, quiet waters and restoring my soul etc. While walking I mentally focus on God being there and actually guiding me I don’t know about you but for me that is a very positive thought to repeat over and over while walking, I never get tired and come away uplifted.
