Where is God? -James 1: 2 Consider it pure  joy, when facing trials of many kinds.

Where is God?  When experiencing the death of  a loved one, or if you are suffering through Cancer or Health difficulties.  You must read James 1: 2 – 6.

God in our Life Trials

Mom’s plea to me was, “Please don’t forget me”.

Where is God?

Have you used this statement?

Have you watched a loved one going though pain and agony and wondered, where is God?

Are you that person?  Does it seem like your life is almost over?  Asking  where is God?

All of us in our lifetime will experience the death of a loved one. Few of us will be their caregivers till the end of their life. During the last few days left of my Mom’s life, her plea to me was,  “Please don’t forget me”. It is times like this, that you have questions,  “Where is God?” or maybe the questions are ;

* Why am I going through this, have I sinned?

* Have I done something wrong?

* Why are others not tested?

* What has my Loved one done, to experience this pain and anguish?

* Where is God?

* When will this testing quit?

Unfortunately,  I belong to several groups, (Pancreatic Cancer and Stiff Persons Syndrome) facing major health issues, the pancreatic cancer group goes through great amounts of pain, stress, and major life changes, usually their lifespan is very short, sometimes death can be a relief from all the suffering but not for all concerned.

The question is, why do we go through trials? knowing that some time those trials include death. Why would a loving God allow such pain and suffering? The answers rest in the Bible.

A few examples:

Job 5:17 Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects: therefore despise not thou the chastising of the Almighty:

Psalms 119:67, 71, 75 Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now I have Thy word. It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statues. I know, Lord, that thy judgments are right in that thou in faithfulness has afflicted me.

Proverbs 3:11, 12 My son, despise not the chastising of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth  he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delight.

Hebrews 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

Revelation 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be jealous, therefore, and repent.

God uses afflictions in our life to teach us and draw us closer to him, turning our focus onto him, not relying on our own power, so we realize our life is in his hands. It is especially important for us to remember, as the Bible says, our life on this earth is but a whisper of smoke. In other words our time is very short here. God must then have our eternity in mind, by drawing us closer he teaches all of us, including our loved ones.

The real question is not where is God, but rather, what is God trying to teach me and others around me?
